The General is the Commandant at the Air Force Institute of Technology, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. The institute supports national defense by providing graduate, postgraduate, professional education and research programs for the Air Force, sister services, foreign officers and civilians in pertinent scientific and technical disciplines.
The General entered the Air Force in 1980 as a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy, where she later returned as an instructor and executive officer to the Dean of the Faculty. She has been assigned to the Air Staff, Joint Staff, U.S. Strategic Command and Office of the Secretary of Defense. The General served as Dean of Faculty and Academic Programs at the National War College, and was special assistant to the Chairman of the Joint chiefs of Staff. Prior to her current assignment, she was the principal Director, Near Eastern and South Asian Affairs, Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs, the Pentagon, Washington, D.C.
The General has a Master of Arts degree in history from Stanford University and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in history from Oxford University, England.
