The Toledo Museum of Art hosted the 47th Annual Conference of the International Visual Literacy Association (IVLA). This year's theme wa The Art of Seeing: From Ordinary to Extraordinary. The International Visual Literacy Association is the oldest international, not-for-profit association of researchers, university and K12 educators, designers, media specialists, and artists dedicated to the study and practice of visual literacy. Aminah Robinson spoke at the IVLA 2014 conference. She is an artist who creates multi-textured works of sculpture, books, rag paintings, paintings on cloth and books. Her art is grounded in the African concept of Sankofa, learning from the past in order to move forward.
